Developing Instructional Media


This was a great opportunity to create instructional materials using a variety of tools. The course provided with the knowledge and competencies used in developing instructional media especially those used in the E-Learning. Specifically, the course allowed me to employ a variety of media to enhance a student’s learning. It included the creation and modification of video, audio and websites and various authoring tools.I was able to realise my personal potential to learn and transfer knowledge in so many varying ways.
This course encouraged learning by doing ,reflecting now I however didn’t think some of the free web tools would expire and some of the learning activities were suited for younger-adult learners.Almost all the skills I used during the course weren’t new as my Bachelors is in Computer Science is just provided me with the opportunity to showcase my knowledge of HTML and CSS but I consider those technical skills ,I learnt more about instructional strategies for adults including Self-Directed Learning.A little technical assistance was required for Camtasia and Captivate for the group as there were various computer platformS being used by different team members. Overall my confidence increased and I really enjoyed the project.In addition, I able to express my opinions and reflect on my own practice in the final written project for the prototypeSkills garnered here can and will be used in the Design Project.
Taking part in this course enhance the following skills for me developing website content, copyright procedures , video production, formatting and editing and conducting evaluation and usability test for the website .They will help improve the quality of my work and assist with the delivery a professional product to my clients.I continue to rely on my knowledge from this course for student support. I instructional design advice to my colleagues based on the problems identified in the class. I am eager to assist with the knowledge and competencies used in developing instructional media especially those useful in E-Learning.
